Neil Holdsworth is an expert in data and data management. He is the head of Data and Information at the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES), an International inter-governmental organisation that develops science and advice to support the sustainable use of the oceans.
Neil Holdsworth has professional experience working with data and statistics in both the private and public sectors. At his current role at ICES, Neil is responsible for managing data partnerships, which include hosting databases and providing data services to OSPAR, HELCOM, and the European Environment Agency, among others. Current projects that Neil contributes to include AORA-CSA, AtlantOS, EMODnet Chemistry, EMODnet Biology, EMODnet Ingestion and Baltic Boost. Neil Holdsworth also served on the advisory board for the EU FP7 project iMarine, which developed e-infrastructure to facilitate the open sharing of fisheries data to support the implementation of the EU Common Fisheries Policy.
