Dr. Marian Mierla is a senior researcher within the Informatics System department of INCDDD – Tulcea (Romania), specialising in GIS applied to the environment. He holds his MSc in Soil Science and a PhD in Geography from the University of Iasi in Romania. His research work is related to GIS analysis of environmental issues and elements to obtain more unrevealed information. He has 13 years of experience working with geospatial data and is involved in the ResponSeable project, funded by the EU Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. Marian was actively involved in a number of large European research projects financed by the European Commission Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (e.g. FP7 ENVIROGRIDS, PEGASO). He was also involved as a specialist in Remote Sensing and GIS for Corine Land Cover projects 2006, 2012 and in many topics of the ETC-SIA for the European Environment Agency.
