Helen Klimmek is a Junior EU Programme Officer at the IUCN European Regional Office. Helen supports the development of IUCN’s engagement with local and regional governments and the promotion of nature based solutions for sustainable development. In the past, she has worked on projects related to EU marine governance, in particular assessing existing barriers to effective ocean governance and marine biodiversity conservation in the EU Overseas entities. She was also involved in the EU-funded Sea for Society project which brought together 28 partners from 12 countries to uncover citizen and stakeholder views of the ocean, and identify solutions to promote the sustainable management of the marine environment. Helen holds a BA degree in Politics and a Master’s Degree in Tourism, Environment and Development from King’s College London. Helen supports Work Packages 2, 3, 4, 5 and 8 of AQUACROSS.
