Dr. Tobias van Kooten is a theoretical ecologist with 15 years’ experience. He has been assistant professor at Umea University in Sweden and is now a senior scientist at IMARES. His work focuses on the dynamics of populations and communities, in particular in response to fisheries. Recently, he has worked on the effects of bottom trawling on benthic ecosystems, including effects on biodiversity. He is involved in the evaluation of Dutch Natura 2000 areas.
