Hosted by the University of Aveiro, AQUACROSS met in Aveiro from the 12th -14th of October, 2016. AQUACROSS partners presented ongoing AQUACROSS research regarding drivers and pressures in aquatic ecosystems, and the relationship between an ecosystem’s state and the services it provides. Discussions also guided the finalisation of the AQUACROSS Assessment Framework and how this can be applied consistently across the eight AQUACROSS case studies. A highlight of the work meeting was an introduction and visit to the local Vouga River case study, which investigates how an integrated approach and focus on biodiversity, ecosystem functions and services can improve the management of aquatic Natura 2000 sites.
