Hosted by the Madrid Institute of Advanced Studies in Water (IMDEA), AQUACROSS researchers met in Alcalá, Spain from 16 to 18 November 2015. The first two days of the workshop focused on the development of the AQUACROSS concept, which will act as a foundation for future research in the project. A variety of topics were discussed under this premise, including the role of complex adaptive systems, challenges around resilience thinking and ecosystem-based management approaches. On the third day, case study leaders, led by project partner ACTeon, met to discuss and exchange on innovative approaches and methods to stakeholder engagement. The successful workshop culminated in progressive next steps to carry the project forward.
