Professor Eeva Furman works at the Finnish Environment Institute, SYKE as the Director for the Centre of Environment Policy. Eeva has been researching and developing the science-policy interface on a national and international level for more than 20 years in several projects and processes working thematically on biodiversity, ecosystem services and nature based solutions.

Currently Eeva is coordinating OpenNESS an EU FP7 project focusing on the operationalization of ecosystem services and natural capital - a major outcome of which has been the Oppla-Platform. Eeva is also a member of the HorizonEKLIPSE project which develops a mechanism for better decisions towards sustainable environment with evidence linking the European research community, citizens and policy makers.

Eeva also chairs the Advisory Board for Sustainable Development which provides support to the Commission of Sustainable Development of Finland and is a member of the Advisory Board for EC Horizon2020 for Societal Challenge 5: Climate action, environment, resource efficiency and raw materials.
